Sahib Singh Sultan belongs to the BJN group of hotels.
The first tyrst with the place was way back in 2006 when we had just returned from the US. It was a surprise dinner for me arranged by my husband. Enjoyed to our heart's content.
Reservation - The place demands prior reservation if you dont want to get disappointed. The place (S S S) is extremely busy over the weekends especially for dinners. So I suggest you to book your table well before you arrive. One can check out the restaurant numbers, address and the like here -

Ambience - The ambience is something you wouldnt be disappointed with. The murals remind one of the British era. The seating is comfortable (just that the chairs are too heavy to move!). The coach inside the place is awesome. If you are calling to make a reservation, do ask for seating inside the coach. Sitting in the coach gives a feeling of sitting in the palace-on-wheels-sort-of-train!
Food - This is the criteria for many of us to check out any restaurant in the first place. The menu has remained more or less the same with us! The only difference I saw in the menu was that the menu card became a little more elaborate and at the same time bigger and heavier!
The place serves complimentary starters. It is usually the bread sticks with 3 types of dipping sauce. I love the one with the cheese. We usually finish the whole thing off before the waiter (who by the way dresses up as a TT) comes to take our order.
We make a conscious decision to skip soups.
Our menu -
Paneer Tikka - must try for all paneer lovers. Though the taste has changed over the years but still remains our favourite. It is always tempting to savour the big chunks of paneer without actually thinking of calories.
Corn Methi Pulao - Pulao with generous doses of corn and methi. A very good combination. Can be eaten just like that without any accompaniments.
Malai Kofta/Hariyali Kofta/Paneer Curry - This varies depending on our mood for the day. Tastes Ok compared to the rice.
Mutton Biryani - this dish is to die for. Yummy!! No Comments.
Fish Tikka - to die for again. Fish at its best. No more Comments.
Litchi Ki Tehari - one must try this one. A dessert with Lithchi!
The cost for 2 people comes to around 500 to 600. We usually dont go for the non - vegetarian delights as one of us is a strict vegetarian!
Wrap-Up - The bill is promptly handled. I love the sweet saunf and the chatpati goli (mouth freshners) which are decked on the left hand corner of the main hall (beside the door). A must check out!
Do check the place out atleast once. But if you dont like it then please dont curse me!
