Innovative Film City, Bangalore

Last Friday we took a day off and went to Innovative Film City, Off Mysore Road. It is roughly 9 kms from Wonderla, Bangalore but very easy to miss. The directions to the place are quite misleading infact not leading at all!

We saw the first sign board when we were close to Wonderla - it said 9 Kms to Innovative Film City. That was a pleasant surprise as we didnt expect any sign boards at all! Thinking we were on the right track, hubby set his tripmeter to 9 Kms. Crossed 9 Kms but there was no sign of any board. We had crossed a small town called Bidadi. You know when you are in Bidadi when - you can see Railway tracks going parallel to the road, chaotic traffic everywhere and a very conspicuous foot over bridge. Assuming that we officially missed the s0-called-place, we relied on the best maps available - the Human Map! Asked a couple of people - they directed us in the opposite direction towards Bangalore.
Made a U turn and looked for sign boards again. Made a U to take a left on the other side of the road. The visible landmark would be the huge billboards. One would find quite a lot of signboards from there on.

So we finally reached the place at 10. Could just see a couple of cars around. The place is still under constuction where a major chunk of work is getting done. Huge cranes, workers, noise are the first thing I noticed. The place is well maintained - the entrance is pretty, with Roman figures adorning the high walls. The main gate is straight from a French Mansion (atleast that is what I thought).

The place has been opened just 2 months back and it would take another 1-2 years for it to become 100% complete.
I am listing some of the attractions and eateries which were open around the time we went. I wouldnt spoil the fun by minutely describing them!

Attractions/Eateries (which are open):

Cafe Coffee Day - very expensive and mediocre quality. One ordinary milk shake costed us around 40 rupees.

Ripley's Believe it or Not - for all the AXN's Ripley's Believe it or not fans. A must see I must say. We ended up spendly a little more than an hour there. A seperate ticket for the entry - around 50 rupees if I remember it well.

Louis Tussad Wax Museum - not great but just okay! Ticket is priced at around 50. The wax idols are in no match with what we find in the original Madam Tussad's Wax Museum or even the real ones. Keep guessing - thats what I would say. Good fun though.

Go Karting - a must try for all the driving and non-driving freaks! Ticket is priced at 150 rupees for laps. Was good fun competing with my own folks.

Mirror Maze - loads of fun. Ticket is priced at 50 rupees. I ended up spending a solid half hour inside the maze just to get out of it!

Food Court - choices are limited. Prices are good enough. Wouldnt call it a great eatery! No match to the food courts that are there in the malls.

Dinosaur Land - for kids. Ticket is priced at 50 rupees. The place is very humid with no visible ventilation. Dinosaurs of all types moving their tail/head/forearms and what not. Good fun if kids are around.

***Mini Golf - didnt check this one out. I found it too unadventurous and boring from a distance.
***Aqua Kingdom - didnt check this one out too. They had an artificial beach just like the one in Wonderla, Bangalore. We didnt dare to enjoy the beach in the hot and sultry day! So skipped that. Ticket is priced at 150 rupees.

Attractions/Eateries (which are yet to open):
Cartoon City
Snow Park
Miniature City
Haunted Mansion
Themed Restaurants
Guiness

Overall good fun if there are a lot of people in the group.
Overall Rating - ** (out of 5)
